PSV coach Bosz towards Feyenoord: ‘Schouten in the back? ‘Now you fill in something’

PSV still has one match to play before the winter break, but that is immediately a top match. Next Sunday, the Eindhoven team will host Feyenoord, the other Dutch Champions League participant this season, at home (kick-off at 2:30 PM).

Trainer Peter Bosz apparently looks forward to that important match quietly. “You ultimately play against all seventeen teams in the competition twice, so whether it is on the first or last match day it doesn’t matter,” the trainer remained matter-of-fact at a press conference.

“After Sunday we are still four, seven or ten points ahead of Feyenoord, but in any scenario we are still first,” Bosz added later. “It will simply be an interesting match, between two teams that belong to the top in the Netherlands.”

It is still unclear with which selection PSV will play against Feyenoord. For example, right winger Johan Bakayoko still suffers from a kick he received in the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk. Rick Karsdorp also suffered from some complaints this week.

“They are both training, but I cannot yet say whether they will be there against Feyenoord,” said Bosz. “Tomorrow we have one last training and then we will see how far they have come.”

Johan Bakayoko

Bosz kept quiet when asked about his battle plan against Feyenoord. “Feyenoord is vulnerable in a number of things, but I am not going to mention them here. I do not think it is appropriate to talk in public about the weaknesses of fellow coaches. But of course I do that with my players.”

How the puzzle will be placed in midfield – Bosz now has a luxury problem with many fit midfielders who also perform well – was also not yet clear. Bosz also did not want to reveal whether Jerdy Schouten might be deployed at the center back again, as has happened in the past in top matches.

Farewell Lozano

Who will probably take action is Hirving Lozano. The Mexican will leave for the American San Diego FC in January and will therefore play his last match as a PSV player on Sunday. That will be an emotional end to a period in which he felt happy, Lozano said earlier.

Bosz also expects a nice farewell. “I can imagine it is emotional, because he has been very happy here. Hirving is a real family man, constantly on the phone with his wife and children when he is not with them. It is always terrible for him that he is not with them. his family can be when we are in a hotel.”

PSV now also feels like family to Lozano, Bosz said. To add with a smile: “If he has as much difficulty saying goodbye to PSV as he does to his family, then things could still get worse on Sunday.”
