PSV is a top club, says Bosz, but not a top team

Losing twice in a row is not something a top club does, Peter Bosz always tells his teams. And so the answer to the question whether his PSV is a top club after the defeats against Brest and Heerenveen was ‘no’.

Two days later, in the press conference ahead of the cup match against HFC, Bosz explains exactly what he meant. “A good team does not lose twice in a row. It is of course about the team. Because PSV is of course a top club, that was already the case before I came here.”

Bosz spoke harsh words after the losses in France and Friesland, but believes that his team is still in good shape. “There is no panic, there is no dip. We still have good players, but we have to show that again as soon as possible. And the first chance of that is tomorrow against HFC.”

Bosz does not know exactly why PSV suddenly had a bad week, shortly after great victories over FC Utrecht (2-5) and FC Twente (6-1).

“In some cases this cannot be explained,” says Bosz. “Football is not a science and there is also feeling involved. But I have been at this club for a year and a half now and if anything has been honed in, it is consistency. And that is why we are now well at the top again.”

Bosz did not want to say much about the line-up against HFC. He did report that second goalkeeper Joël Drommel will keep in the cup tournament, just like last season, instead of first goalkeeper Walter Benítez.
