According to the Pakistani army, India carried out various rocket attacks on three air force bases on Saturday.
One of those bases is on the edge of the capital Islamabad, near the army headquarters. Eyewitnesses tell Reuters news agency that heavy explosions could be heard.
A spokesperson for the Pakistani army says that most rockets have been intercepted and that they have not touched their goals. According to Pakistani state broadcaster, rockets have since been fired at India. Pakistani airspace is now closed.
The G7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States) call Pakistan and India to reluctance and encourage both countries to talk to each other.
India and Pakistan have been bombarding each other since on April 22 at a terrorist attack in Kashmir at least 26 Indian tourists were killed. India accuses Pakistan of being behind that attack. Pakistan contradicts that. Since then, tensions between the two countries have been high.
