The German online store Zalando wants to take over clothing online store About You. Both online stores are large in Europe. By joining forces in the field of software, logistics and payments, Zalando expects to achieve stronger growth.
The plan is for both brands to continue to exist. Zalando has around 50 million active customers. About You has around 12 million active customers, a younger audience and focuses more on trends, Zalando writes in a press release. “I look forward to jointly acquiring a larger share of the fashion and lifestyle market,” writes Zalando co-chairman Robert Gentz.
About You would like to advise shareholders to accept the offer. According to Tarek Müller, co-chairman of About You, both brands focus on specific and different customer needs. “This agreement creates something unique,” Müller said in the press release.
Zalando was founded in Berlin in 2008.
