The new NS timetable came into effect today. The rail carrier speaks of the biggest change to the timetable in years. The intention is for more trains to run in the Randstad. On many routes the first train departs earlier in the day and trains also continue until later in the evening.
Since today, the new ‘Airport Sprinter’ has been running to Schiphol and the international ‘Eurocity Direct’ to Brussels.
Most people will only really notice the timetable tomorrow, an NS spokesperson said this morning. The new night train from Amsterdam to Alkmaar also started last night. According to the rail carrier, everything went well.
The NS says it has tried in every way to inform travelers about the new timetable. “Including in the app and we have announced at stations over the past two weeks.” Emails have also been sent to regular customers. “So we’ve been working on it for weeks.”
Tomorrow, extra NS staff will be at Rotterdam Central Station to provide additional information to travelers.
