That doesn’t work: his shot goes wide. Great opportunity for NAC, which could have done more.

Go Ahead Eagles do not let their heads hang after the goal and look for the attack. After a smooth combination, the ball reaches left back Dean James, who passes it low to Oliver Edvardsen. The little Norwegian shoots wide.

That was the Eagles’ second chance in this match, because just before the goal, Oliver Antman was able to shoot into a promising position. His marker then passed in front.

NAC takes the lead in Deventer. After a mediocre kick from Luka Plogmann, NAC captain Jan van den Bergh gets the ball at Saná Fernandes and he hits the target very nicely.

Fernandes takes the ball in turn and shoots it in hard from the edge of the penalty area. Nice way to score your first Premier League goal and put your club ahead.

GAE-NAC | 4′ NAC takes initiative

NAC captain Jan van den Bergh has been on the ground for a while after a collision with Go Ahead player Enric Llansana. He has pain in his jaw and nose, but can probably continue.

NAC takes the initiative in the first minutes. The people of Breda started the match brightly and put a lot of pressure on Go Ahead. It has not yet produced any goal attempts.

GAE-NAC | NAC with three defenders

“Normally we will play with three men at the back today,” NAC coach Carl Hoefkens revealed before kick-off. In other words: NAC plays with a three-man defense today. That decision was largely born out of necessity, because defenders Boy Kemper and Leo Greiml are suspended.

The defenders today are probably Terence Kongolo, Jan van den Bergh and Enes Mahmutovic. The latter was last in the starting line-up for NAC in matchday 1: he received a red card after just five minutes.

The setups! Go Ahead Eagles plays with the expected names, including Enric Llansana. He received a red card last week when visiting FC Utrecht, but it was dismissed by the KNVB. So he’s back in there, just like Jakob Breum. The Dane is in good form and scored a nice goal in the midweek cup match with Sparta.

At NAC, Terence Kongolo is once again in the starting line-up, he will probably start from the left back position. The 18-year-old Saná Fernandes can also try from the kick-off: the Lazio loanee has played eight Premier League matches until today in which he has not yet recorded any goals or assists.

Saturday afternoon at the Adelaarshorst

The last time Go Ahead Eagles played a home match in the Premier League, it was also on Saturday afternoon: on December 7 against NEC.

That was a nice afternoon for the Deventers, as they won convincingly 5-0 against NEC. Oliver Edvardsen was the big man by scoring a hat trick before half time, so he was also allowed to go home with the match ball.

Back to yesterday: PEC Zwolle was disadvantaged

PEC Zwolle thought they would win last night when they visited RKC, but saw the possible winning goal disallowed.

In the final minute of official playing time, Nick Fichtinger shot a deflected ball into the goal, but the VAR disallowed the goal for offside during a short corner. That should not have been allowed, the KNVB confirmed later in the evening, because you cannot be offside during a corner according to the rules of the game.
