Former goalkeeper and football coach Frans Körver has passed away. The Limburger is 87 years old.
As a trainer, Körver was promoted to the Premier League a total of six times with five clubs. No other trainer has done that until now.
Körver made his professional debut in 1959 at Sittardia. The goalkeeper left for MVV two years later, where he played until 1974. He played more than 400 games in the Premier League.
In the eighties and nineties he coached the Maastricht team for a total of six years and in 1997 he was the last coach who became first division champion with MVV and guided the club to the Premier League.
Belgian Tongeren was his first club as a coach, after which he managed numerous clubs.
He was promoted to the Premier League with FC Wageningen (1980), Fortuna Sittard (1982), MVV (1988, 1997), VVV (1993) and De Graafschap (1995). It is also special that Körver trained all four Limburg professional clubs, namely MVV, VVV-Venlo, Fortuna Sittard and Roda JC.
