Claude for the Netherlands to the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel

Claude will represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland in 2025.

The 21-year-old singer, known for hits such as Ladada (Mon Dernier Moth), Layla and Écoutez-moi, says that he is honored to be on stage on behalf of the Netherlands.

“I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to let Europe hear the song.”

Claude was chosen from 331 entries, including some big names from the music industry. For example, Anouk and Gerard Joling previously announced that they had submitted a song.

“This year, as a selection committee, we have chosen a meaningful, connecting and hit-sensitive song with international appeal that can effortlessly conquer the hearts of young and old Eurovision Song Contest viewers,” said the selection committee, which consisted of Cornald Maas, Jacqueline Govaert, Sander Lantinga, Hila Noorzai, Carolien Borgers and Jaap Reesema.

For a long time it was not clear whether AVROTROS would send a participant to the next edition of the music event. The broadcaster had doubts about this after the disqualification of Joost Klein on the final day of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

Only in October, after discussions with the EBU, did AVRTROS decide to participate again. The EBU says it has made the necessary changes. For example, there will be a code of conduct, a permanent supervisor for artists and filming will no longer be allowed in the artist zones behind the scenes.

Klein was given the opportunity by AVROTROS to take revenge in Basel, but he turned down that offer.
