Again large protests Turkey, also at the court where Mayor Imamoglu is interrogated

For the fourth evening in a row, Turkish cities are demonstrated against the arrest of Mayor Imamoglu of Istanbul. In Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, among others, the police have deployed water cannons to vary the crowds.

Imamoglu has again contradicted the charges against him. According to the authorities, he is suspected of bribery, fraud and managing a criminal organization, but the opposition speaks of a politically motivated persecution.

The mayor, popular in Istanbul, is considered the most important potential opponent of President Erdogan in the presidential election in 2028. It is expected that tomorrow it will be clear whether Imamoglu will be released, or is officially placed under judgment and should go to prison.
